Protection now that masks are gone
I’m sure we all felt a bit of trepidation when we stepped out of our homes without any PPE on for the first time in years. It was a double-edged sword. We could finally breathe unhindered and see all the lovely smiling faces around us, but we were exposed.
Masks may longer be mandatory in South Africa, but the threat of viruses has always been there and will be for years to come. The World Health Organisation still recommends that you wear a mask if there is a “community or cluster transmission of SARS-CoV-2, irrespective of vaccination status or history of prior infection.” They also stress that you should consider wearing a mask if you are in an “indoor setting where ventilation is known to be poor”, or if you cannot maintain a physical distance of at least 1 metre.
If you prefer to go out without a mask, remember you should continue to practice physical distancing, avoid crowded, closed and close-contact settings, ensure good ventilation of indoor spaces, clean your hands regularly, and sneeze and cough into a bent elbow.
How to stay safe
One way of maintaining healthy air at home and in your workspaces is to use an antiviral filter in your air purifier.
With an air purifier equipped with a HEPA filter, which is known to capture 99.97% of airborne contaminants, you can breathe easy. It purifies the air by removing particles, gases, and other impurities. Air purifiers assist in lowering the risk of health problems brought on by indoor pollution, which can lead to respiratory infections, neurological difficulties, or exacerbate asthmatic symptoms.
Both the CF8500 and the CF8608 are fitted with a medical-grade H13 HEPA filter that captures up to 99,975% of particles that are 0.1 microns in diameter. Being exposed to bacteria and viruses outside of your home isn’t under your control, but at least you can control what happens in your home or workspace.
